NATASHA PHIPPS
“Derma” explores my relationship with skin. Dealing with a skin condition during my developing ages as an adolescence has impacted how I viewed myself and my own self worth. I have used the people closest to me to form a figurative representation of my own skin. These are the people I feel comfortable touching, showing my true skin to - their skin is a depiction of the vulnerability and exposure that we share.
Through photography, sculpture and textiles I have made a multimedia outcome that narrates the power of skin, aiming to look further than aesthetic, examining the organ in a new light. Forcing us to look a little too close.
